The Sixth Commandment

This Sunday, the world premiere of “The Sixth Commandment” by Elżbieta Sikora, performed by SWR Experimentalstudio and Les Métaboles, conducted by Léo Warynski, will take place.

The piece is dedicated to the victims of any kind of violence.

The title of the work refers to the “Sixth Commandment” in the Talmudic tradition: “thou shalt not kill”. In the piece, the words of witnesses to what happened in the Nazi concentration camp Majdanek near Lublin during World War II are reflected in the poems of Grzegorz Kwiatkowski and echo in Ekhmetjan Osman’s Uyghur poetry.
