Nothwestern University i profesor Rachel Jamison Webster zapraszają na: “More light – Art Against Hate: A Conversation with Grzegorz Kwiatkowski.”
Thursday, February 9, 11 am- 12:20 pm, on Zoom.
Join us for a reading and conversation with Polish poet/post-rock musician Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, whose art is an artistic response to history, genocide and rising right wing nationalism. Grzegorz Kwiatkowski is an author of several books of poetry revolving around the subjects of history, remembrance, and ethics. He is also a member of the post punk psychedelic band Trupa Trupa. Kwiatkowski co-hosts the workshop “Virus of Hate” at the University of Oxford and has been a guest lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley; Stanford University; Johns Hopkins University; the University of Chicago; and Jewish Theological Seminary. His latest chapbook of poetry “CROPS” was translated by Peter Constantine and published in the USA by Rain Taxi in 2021.
During our event, Kwiatowski will read a poems from CROPS as well as a new unpublished poem based on the camp notes of his grandfather Józef Kwiatkowski, who was a prisoner of Stutthof concentration camp and whose tragic history has had a profound impact on the author and his art. Kwiatkowski believes that by facing tragedies and the darkest episodes in history, we can act more consciously and morally in our everyday lives.
