„What bands should you see in Eurosonic? Which ones are going to be big? These ones, of course.
Trupa Trupa combines dirty guitar sounds with the psychedelic twists of the 60s and 70s. They sound as if they were the product of a meeting between Sonic Youth and the Beatles, as their stifling, grinding style doesn’t interfere with catchy melodies. They’ve proven that their unusual, somewhat difficult sound could attract and be appreciated by a broad audience. The quartet, formed in Gdansk, has also received many awards, reinforcing the belief that even in the 21st century, we still need ragged guitar riffs, accompanied by melodic vocals, the main hallmarks of Trupa Trupa.
Since releasing its Doors-inspired debut, Trupa Trupa has remained one of the most interesting and unpredictable projects from Poland. The group’s second album, Headache, received some of the best reviews of 2015 from Polish critics. Moreover, the LP reached international success as a result of being released by British label Blue Tapes and X-Ray Records and by Ici d’ailleurs in France. It was also praised by media such as the LA Times and the Quietus.”
